May I introduce you to the Pinehurst area of North Carolina. This is a great time to buy a home in Pinehurst because of attractive interest rates and the amazing real estate values offered.

Pinehurst and Southern Pines North Carolina may just be one of the USA's best kept secrets.   Rich in history, this region has amazingly preserved its past.   As I share with people, its as though the clock stopped in 1942.   Both villages are ideal for a quaint walk and stroll back in time.   This magical atmosphere emits a tranquil mood and charm quite unlike any other that you normally see in today's world of hustle bustle.

Although Pinehurst is known as the St. Andrews (where golf was founded in Scotland) of the United States and its incredible number of great historic golf courses, this little gem is an ideal location to retire.   Homes are amazingly affordable and your dollar goes a long way to finding a perfect retirement home for a very reasonable amount.

Can you imagine finding an area with no air polluting industry, well the Pinehurst area's primary industry is visitors, retirees, 2nd home owners and the small businesses related to supporting these patrons.   Interestingly, Pinehurst and Southern Pines have an area in between that offers all the conveniences that you could look for in restaurants, groceries etc.

The biggest surprise (and very important) is its hospital.  First Health Moore Regional Hospital (www.firsthealth.org) may just be one of the best small hospitals in the Southeast.   In addition to a new heart center wing highly praised, the hospital has attracted many of the best young physicians in the country choosing to come and raise their family here as well.   The word has gotten out that the lifestyle in the Pinehurst area is one of a kind.

Southern Pines has its own caveat, with a 5000 acre (Moss Foundation) preserve dedicated forever for horseback riding, this area is also quite a well kept secret for its horse ranches / farms and stately homes with wonderful horse barns.     Many properties are either close or abut the riding preserve so that riders can conveniently enjoy riding their horses through the stunning wooded trails.

If I seem enthusiastic, its because I have lived were there are 4-6 lanes of traffic doing 65 mph, seen the smoke from industry, charm of yesteryear forgotten and felt the lack of response when approaching people.   As a country boy now, I visit my family in Boston and say hello to passing people and smile.   My family says..."Dad, we don't do these things here"

ENJOY THE HISTORY BELOW AND IMAGES.    I would love to personally assist you in any way
and suggest browsing my site to better inform you on what the area has to offer in for homes for sale in Pinehurst.

History[edit]

In 1895, James Walker Tufts purchased 500 acres (2.0 km2), and eventually purchased an additional 5,500 acres (22 km2), of land for approximately $1.25 per acre in the North Carolina Sandhills, with the vision of building a "health resort for people of modest means".[6]
Originally dubbed Tuftstown during development, Tuftstown became the village of Pinehurst, and home of the Pinehurst Resort. In 1980, the village became a municipality.[7]
The first golf course at Pinehurst Resort was laid out in 1897-1898. The first championship held at Pinehurst was United North and South Amateur Championship of 1901. The best known course, Pinehurst No. 2, was designed by Donald Ross and completed in 1907. The resort now has eight golf courses, three hotels, a spa, and extensive sports and leisure facilities.
In 1999, National Public Radio reported that many local business owners in Pinehurst were upset because the Pinehurst Resort was using lawsuits to prevent local businesses from using the term "Pinehurst" in the names of their businesses.[8] The village council sought a written guarantee from the Pinehurst Resort that it would not force any business in the village to remove the name "Pinehurst" from its name unless the business is a direct competitor. The request came a week later in a local newspaper. The village also sued the resort over control of the name shared between the resort and village.[9]
